Mike secures sponsorship for 2011 Season

Mike Goodfellow agreed a sponsorship package for 2011 to race a new BMW S1000RR in the British National Superstock 1000 Series, a support race to the British Superbike programme. Simon Frendo of Carbontek introduced entrepreneur Steve Greenhalgh to Mike and following the Champion of Brands meeting in October 2010 discussions took place to secure a package for the year. The bike will run in the Carbontek Racing and Four Anjels livery - orange, blue and black. Four Anjels are specialist bakers of distinctive biscuits and cakes. Carbontek is a performance and customising centre based in Whyteleafe,Surrey.

Vines BMW supplied the bike and Carbontek has prepared it. Mike has been racing for 10 years and is thrilled to have this level of support. The Superstock Series features production road bikes, control tyres and fuel which produces very close racing. Mike has been provided with leathers by BKS and helmets from Shark. He will again be racing under No 81 with Dad, Kevin as his mechanic.

Mike, works in construction, lives in Surrey and invests everything into his bike racing. Always keen on bikes, riding them on a farm from an early age. His times on track days were good enough to seriously consider racing and after only 4 years he won the prestigious Champion of Brands, retained the BMCRC Supersport 600 title and finished 3rd in the MRO Supersport Championship. It was time to move up to British level . . .

A brief history:

2009 At his only race meeting of the year, the Centennial Champion of Brands weekend, he won two Powerbike races, beating the MRO Champion on the way and was 2nd in the Champion of Brands race.

2008 In May he finished 2nd at the Brands British Superbike meeting which included the MRO Superstock 1000 race. In July he was 8th and 2nd, and at the final meeting in September he won two Powerbike Races and The Champion of Brands Title for the second time.

2007 'Financially enforced layoff' for much of the year. Acquired Suzuki GSXR1000. First race meeting in July finished 5th and 6th and at Champion of Brands meeting at the end of September took 3rd overall.

2006 Mike bought a brand new Yamaha R6 which had WhitePower Suspension fitted by MCTechnics, an Akrapovich exhaust, race cams and very little else done to it. Three-quarters of the way through the season he was 4th in the Cup but engine failure at Silverstone meant he eventually finished 5th.

2005 Mike acquired a crash damaged Honda so that he had a second CBR600 at his disposal. He entered 11 British Supersport Cup rounds and at the end of a year that was a steep learning curve for the whole team, he finished 8th in his debut season.

2004 Mike bought a new Honda CBR600 at the end of the 2003 season which was developed into a competitive bike. During a very busy year Mike won the BMCRC SS600 Championship, Champion of Brands (more info click this link) and was 3rd in the National MRO Supersport Championship. He also entered two British rounds.

2003 With a tuned engine and better suspension set up on the Suzuki, Mike won the BMCRC Supersport 600 Championship and was 8th in the National MRO Supersport Championship.

2002 Mike purchased a nearly new Suzuki GSXR600 and finished 2nd in the Clubmans 600 - a very closely fought Championship.

2001 Mike started racing his 7 year old ex-road bike, a Honda CBR600 in the BEMSEE Rookie 600 Clubman's Championship - he finished 7th.
